Two Great Reasons to Stay Home

How can I send these two precious ones to day care and miss their special little faces? And why would I work only to pay for someone else to raise my babies? A wonderful opportunity has enabled me to spend less time on the clock and more time in the rocking chair. Stayin' Home and Lovin' It! has been a huge blessing to our family. Now I can spend more time with Jack and Sophie and I can help others do the same. Can you believe that while I was taking this picture, I was "at work?" That's what I'm talkin' about!

Ask me how!

Built in Playmates or "A Day at the Cafe"

Java Mama is one of my favorite spots to hang out with the kids. I treat myself to a chai tea, and treat the kids to some good ol' playtime. Today we had an audience. A young tyke was absolutely enthralled with Jack and Sophie's charisma...or was it my rendition of "Itsy Bitsy Spider?" Whatever it was, the little guy was oblivious to his mom calling him. Take a look at these cherubs in action. Who wouldn't be entertained?

Same Birthday, Different People

Our "baby limo," as we like to call our dual stroller, is a dead giveaway. As the navy blue Peg Perego semi-truck rounds the isles at Costco, it attracts the old ladies from behind those little sample stations...young women with their carts, and men carrying crate inventory. With utter amazement at our mini spectacle, each of them ask the same questions:

"Twins?" Yup.
"Oh! Are they both boys or both girls?" One of each.
"So are the identical or fraternal." Yeah.
(I figure that they didn't know the difference, why complicate it?)

The truth is, although they were born on the same day, they are distinctly different...and I don't mean their anatomy, either.

For instance, Jack is asleep on the living room floor next to Dad. He was done playing, felt kinda tired, so he thought to shut his eyes and take a nap. He is partially narcoleptic--like his dad.

Sophie, on the other hand, is hollaring, "Mama mama mama" her room because it is nap time...and she's been fighting sleep all day. I'll go in and comfort. But the little woman will fall asleep sitting up before she will take it laying down!

Let Love Be Your Governing Principle

Busy. Frustrated. Frazzled. The life of a mother can be overwhelming at times. We are responsible for the condition of our house and its inhabitants. Schedules, appointments, the laundry, grocery shopping, dinner, housekeeping...(the list goes on)...playing referee, or in my case, milk-bar and human bouncy-chair--it is a wonder that women lose their minds as they age! We endure more pressure from daily tasks than the average person during the industrial revolution!
At times I have felt like a ball of yarn tightly wound
A hamster on a wheel
Like I'm walking on a treadmill
One day merges into the next
Even a power nap sounds like luxury.
In the whirlwind of activities, I have learned that if I take a moment to be still...

...and remember that everything I do is done out of love.

The joy that results from that thought resounds far above the hectic hustle of the day. The tension melts away as I realize that God has enabled me to carry out each task. And I am thankful for what I do have.

Even when things don't work out as I planned, I can be still...

...and know that He is God who takes care of me

...as I go about daily caring for my family.

Let Love be your governing principle.
